The fibromyalgia exercise routine. There are a number of different types of exercise that can help alleviate uncomfortable symptoms. These are: aerobic exercise, interval training, and strength training. It is not necessary to spend hours at the gym to accomplish exercise-related relief. A mere twenty minutes a day, five days a week, can be enough to combat the pain and fatigue associated with fibromyalgia.
Start slow. Don’t rush into an intensive exercise routine, especially if you are not used to exercising. Start slow and go easy in the beginning. Listen to what your body is telling you, and increase your load as you feel comfortable doing so. Expect that it will take several weeks, or even months, to adjust to your physical routine.
Know what to expect. It is not unusual to experience a surge in your fibromyalgia symptoms when you first undertake a new exercise routine. Do not worry that you are worsening your condition; your body is just in shock. Work through the pain, or slow down if needed, and give your body some time to catch up. The pain will subside in a few days and then you will begin to feel the results of all your hard work.
