More often than not, people are daunted by the idea of going into surgery; even doctors would exhaust all nonsurgical means first before finally recommending it. 2. Engage in regular exercise
You have probably heard about the numerous benefits brought about by exercise. Keeping the entire body strong and healthy will also positively affect the health of your spine, so make sure that you always try to make time for a session of cardiovascular and strength training at least twice a week. Aside from boosting strength and flexibility, exercise also helps lose extra weight.
3. Be on a balanced and healthy diet
The quality of the food we eat naturally determines the state we are getting our body into. If we indulge in foods that are usually lacking in vitamins and nutrients, then we can’t expect to have a healthy body. Adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D keeps the bones strong; therefore this is important for people of all ages.
4. Don’t smoke
Cigarette smoking not only damages the lungs, it also weakens the bones. Frail bones are more susceptible to fractures and damage, so it’s best to keep them strong and healthy by not smoking. People who smoke have much higher risk for bone diseases like osteoporosis.
5. Use proper body mechanics
Not bending properly, or lifting heavy objects without positioning the feet so that they give the body enough support can cause strain or injury to the back, so avoid doing these to keep your back healthy and painless.
